We have a need for a Part Time Nurse Aide Monday-Friday 5pm-9pm. Position Summary:
Participates in all aspects assisting in the care of the patient both clinically and administratively. Provides patient care as directed by the Nursing Department in accordance with the multidisciplinary treatment plan objectives, policies and procedures of Malvern Institute. Actively cooperates with all departments including Admissions and Counseling. Summary of Essential Position Functions: Helps patients by providing information, services and assistance. Maintains a safe, neat and clean environment to facilitate patient safety. Is constantly focused on patient safety. At the direction of the Assistant Director of Nursing, the Nursing Aide may prepare the following: o Bed availability and updates to the bed board so that the bed board is maintained accurately and in live time. o Schedule of patients assigned to meet with either medical practitioners or psychiatrists. o All medical records and other needed documents for meetings with medical practitioners and psychiatrists. In cooperation with the Counseling and Admissions Departments and at the direction of the Clinical Supervisor, may be asked to conducts strip searches of newly admitted patients as well as patients returning from pass or at other times that the supervisor would determine a person search is necessary. Conducts drug screens of newly admitted patients and for-cause drug screens. Provides support to patients through individual interactions. Notifies the Nursing Department immediately of any medical, psychiatric or behavioral problems that may affect a patient’s treatment. Documents significant interactions, as appropriate, in the electronic medical record Schedules medical and dental appointments at the direction of the Assistant Director of Nursing. Assists with room searches and reports unsanitary or unsafe conditions immediately. Maintains calm in the milieu by remaining visible to the community. Following proper training, may take vital signs, under the direction of the Nursing Department. Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards complying with legal regulations. Assists with fire safety, infection control and isolation procedures, including disposal of hazardous waste. Responds to and directs emergency situations when necessary and maintains CPR certification. Locate patients as requested by nursing staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Chaperones and helps the physician during examinations using careful documentation and reviewing with an RN for accuracy
Gathers vital signs on patients, documenting results and reviewing results with an RN
Helps patients by providing information, services, and assistance
Maintains a safe, neat, and clean environment to facilitate patient safety, which includes instrument preparation and cleaning
Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests, such as taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature, and reporting patient history summary
Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures that comply with legal regulations
Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt of orders
Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs
Implements fire safety, infection control, and isolation procedures when appropriate, including disposal of hazardous waste
Responds to and directs emergency situations when necessary
Interacts with co-workers in a helpful manner that contributes to high morale
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Current CPR certification
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
Able to follow spoken and written instructions
Able to maintain general sanitary/safety practices
An up-beat and engaging personality
